ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
 
1.      Provides substance abuse education utilizing an evidence-based program in a classroom setting. 
2.      Participates in the development of curriculum materials/activities/lesson planning upon need.  
3.      Conducts pre and post surveys in all evidence-based programs. 
4.      Serves as a resource for parents, school counselors, teaching staff, school administration, and identifies school system’s needs. 
5.      Helps Prevention staff in other prevention efforts/collaborations in the 6 CSAP strategies for all segments of the community and agency across the continuum of care upon need. 
6.      Maintains expertise in prevention content areas. Knowledgeable of agency programs, services, and resources to communicate to the community. 
7.      Understands the South Carolina Laws related to ATOD and other related health issues. 
8.      Assists in the development of promotional flyers, ATOD campaigns, and social media messaging for parents and youth. 
9.      Participates in Keystone’s drug-free events as well as schools’ drug-free events (i.e. Red Ribbon Week). 
10.  Submits prevention data to funding sources in a timely manner and shares quantitative/qualitative results to school stakeholders and teachers. Enters class information in to the Prevention Portal in a timely manner. 
11.  Cultivates new strategic partnerships. 
12.  Require regular and reliable attendance. Coordinates with supervisor to ensure all duties are assigned to other staff when absent.  
13.  Proficiency with MS office computer software applications and/or Medical Records software applications, emails, etc. 
14.  Attend all mandatory training/licensure and receive an annual TB screening. 
15.  Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

The normal course of business may include dealing with volatile consumers and/or stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
Prevention Specialist:  Bachelor’s degree in social science from a regionally accredited program and no experience.  1-3 years working experience in education or behavioral health preferred, CPS status or seeking CPS as per DAODAS guidelines. 
 
SUPERVISOR:  Prevention Director 

 
WORK SCHEDULE:  Reports on time to work, maintaining schedule assigned by 
Supervisor, with appropriate advance requests for paid time off if applicable.
